tony pena resigns as the royals manager...

at least this keeps the front office from making the mistake of firing him. they now can save all of their mistakes for later in the season when they trade mike sweeney and promote the entire AAA omaha team to "the majors."

for those of you in kansas city who cried for this...i hope you're happy.

best of luck tony. you're a good coach.

the more i read about this whole thing, the more it pisses me off.

i think matt stairs said it best:

"There's not a [darn] thing he could have done different. He's not the one that puts the cleats on and he's not the one who plays the game. You can look in this clubhouse and see that it's a team of 25, but only one guy has played well. Guys better open up their eyes and realize that we are the cause of this, and the reason he resigned. If we would have played better baseball, or smarter baseball, we wouldn't be having this conversation."

i was sorry to hear about this as well. the potential upside is that he might catch on with a team that cares about, and is willing to invest in, winning.

i think david glass is misappropriating the revenue sharing money the team receives and is basically screwing the franchise. instead of praying for a new manager, the KC public should be praying for a new owner.

hopefully, he'll land somewhere where he can shine.

selfishly, i kinda think since he "is staying with the organization" that he'll be the manager again down the road.

what? it could happen right?

I'm an indians fan. I live in cleveland so its second nature.

tony pena was a big part of the mid 90's teams that were absolutely mezmorizing.

I always wished him the best and maybe even secretly rooted for the royals when they werent playing us. for him to give up like this isnt surprizing, he never played like that..so you know it had to be bad. the royals are a joke of a team.

Calling them a 'AAA' team is being nice.
