so, beck and i started the process of making lists of things that we want people to lavish us with this coming may. despite the physical toll of walking around for hours and hours in the local bed, bath and beyond and target stores...it's a relatively painless process. it can even be fun at some points depending on one's personal definition of the line between "need" and "want."
but the thing that i noticed most as we dug through the seemingly endless aisles of kitchenaid goodies and domestic bric-a-brac wasn't necessarily the things that we wanted...but more, the things that we absolutely, under no natural circumstance and unconditionally do NOT want.
i hold strong opinions on a very limited number of gift ideas and, for the most part, i trust the taste of our friends and family. but i believe that, in lieu of a bridal registry, we should have the option of signing up for something more helpful...an ANTI-registry. simply, a list of the things that will only lead to the drawing of ire and a full trash can.
things like
this. and
this, for example.
it would encourage a personal touch and creativity in our guests, but would offer a helpful framework in which to operate.
i think it's a winning idea.
