dear FOX execs,

i cannot believe that you cancelled "arrested development." are you telling me that in these days of mindless, cookie cutter shows like "reunion," "stacked" and "the simple life" that you couldn't even find a measily 30 minutes somewhere, ANYWHERE in the lineup for a show that is consistantly hilarious and at the same time witty and original?

i know, i know. the ratings. ok, so only 4 million people watched it last week. at least 4 million people watched it. have you ever seen 4 million people in one room? it's a lot. when did 4 million become the equivalent of 15 or 20? have you SEEN the numbers for the WB lately?

if it isn't working on monday night, put it somewhere where no one watches anything anyway, like friday night. wouldn't it be great to have a guaranteed 4-5 million person fanbase instead of, say "the bernie mac show" which hasn't pull in those numbers in years.

i am not naive enough to think that my little email will change your minds. i know it's probably a money thing, and while money is exactly what is wrong with hollywood today, to a certain extent i understand that. but wouldn't it be great to do the right thing for once? just once. "arrested" has won a few emmys. remember that?

i just wanted to express my disappointment and let you know that you've lost a viewer. i'm done.

here's hoping that the dvd sales and probable other network pick-up cause you second-guess your ill-fated decision.

thanks and have a great weekend out there in L.A.

sincerely,
eric d cade (loyal Fox viewer 1989-2005)

yeah, i just sent this email. i feel a little better, but i'm still shaking a little.

Truly, I am sorry dude. I have to say that i really didn't think that Arrested D would last, simply because (and as you stated) it is witty.

In an age where mindnumbing amusement-driven television (i.e. American Idol, Survivor, Who Wants to Marry My Dad, blah, blah,) there is just no room for a bulk of witty shows.

I mean, smart, forward thinking television might actually engage viewers and cause them to think proactively. How else will we get people NOT to care when we invade Iran or Syria or whoever is next on our axis of evil watch. It certainly won't be with a well thought out program like Arrested D.

dr j,

we all asw it coming, but i figured it would be in the form of "not renewed for next season" as opposed to "cut down."

fletchness,

unless you find asome stuff in great condition and in plastic sleeves...it probably wouldn't be worth it. thanks though.

Fletch,
Cade is however looking for the complete Seals & Croft record set for his own personal collection...so keep that in mind, especially with Christmas just around the corner.

I rarely condone profanity, as I happen to think there are much better and articulate ways of expressing one's feelings...in this case you're right

Send those fox execs to St. Louis. Recent news article says we're the topic city in the nation for gonorreah ...so um, yeah, we got that going for us.

the more it settles in, the more i kind of don't want it to continue. if FOX renegged and let it run out the season, it DEFINITELY wouldn't get picked up for next. it could go to another network i guess, but they have 5 episodes to wrap up some stories and i think that 2 1/2 seasons for a show that has been being perpetually cancelled since it's first episode, is pretty good.

why not go out with a bang. i mean, the BBC's "the office" only ran 13 episodes.

acceptance: you are a cruel mistress.
