aloha

tonight at 9pm et, on espn, the dream begins anew.

the 2005-2006 college basketball season OFFICIALLY starts for those of us who profess our eternal love and undying support to the jayhawks of the university of kansas. true there is one game under their belt (a 90-66 victory over an outmatched idaho state) but that wasn't televised (except for on jayhawk tv which, strangely enough, doesn't extend to beverly, mass. of course, neither does espn full court, but that's another comcast-centered rant for another time.)

no no. it's tonight. it's the opening round of the maui classic, where a very talented and VERY young jayhawk squad will no doubt put up a fight but ultimately get dismissed by an older, wiser arizona team (prove me wrong boys) that the season truly begins.

with last year's devastating conclusion a distant echo, i stand along side my fellow jayhawks and look forward (outcome be damned) to an exciting season.

rock chalk jayhawk.

Mr. Cade,
I personally believe, regardless of the outcome, you're going to love our team. The best way to describe them is they are a team full of Jared Haases. They may not do much this year when compared to the Jayhawk Nation's annual national title dreams, but they will be fun to watch. This team is the EXACT OPPOSITE of last year's team. Last year we were senior laden, experienced, and most of the time, "going through the motions". They were a team that thought they'd skate to the "important games". This year we are young, inexperienced, turnover prone, but boy do they hustle. You will NOT at one time in this game think this team isn't giving 110%. Enjoy your first look my friend.

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK

The sad part for me is I was actually meant to be in Maui for this very tournament...alas, I'm stuck listening on internet radio...

Just Dave is right, this team will never be outhustled...everyone has something to play for whether it's NBA scouts, playing time or enjoying every moment of their senior season...unfortunately, probably at least 3 players from this team will enter the NBA draft next year (Rush, Giles and Wright)

Just beat K-State and Missourah twice and I'll be happy

Gotta disagree with ya Muffin.
Rush has a good chance of going but I would SHOCKED if Julian Wright goes. Mainly because he's a great player, but not a great scorer. And without putting up 20+ a game he won't be lured to the NBA. (He's not even starting for the hawks.) And for some reason I doubt Giles goes. I just don't think his game is ready to go up against Shaq and I don't think the scouts will think so either. He's made good strides (of what I've seen in 3 games), but I never saw him as an early entry guy.

with Giles, there is a big shortage of big guys in the draft next year, some boards have him in the late lottery...Rush and Wright are loaded with potential, with the new draft age limit, I would be suprised if they aren't with Simien and Hinrich and Collison next year...I HOPE I'M WRONG>>>

Where are you seeing CJ in the lottery? (What website?)

I checked out nbadraft.net and saw no KU players in the mock 2006 draft. Then went to another site that had Rush in the first round but no one else. Just curious.

I was certainly right about the "turnover prone" part.

Why do I hate Arizona so much? And why do they always act like pr*cks? Is it something that Lute Olson teaches?

ESPN, Chad Ford rates the top 100 prospects for next year...also, ESPN the Magazine had Wright and Rush going pro this year and Chalmers next year...

I respectfully would vote for the season to 'officially' begin the next game--or, if we continue to play badly, the game after next... (rinse and repeat)

Coming from a high school teacher, I don't care how good you are, it will take our freshman a while to get used to the big boys. They still have (or had) the mindset that they can just roll over people like they did last year. We will be good, after all it can't get worse than Bucknell. Kroeker
