ballpark review: tropicana field
TROPICANA FIELD - St. Petersburg, FL
devil rays vs yankees - july 12, 2007 - ah, summertime in the bronx...i mean, florida. that means it's time for indoor baseball. despite any misgivings i had going into this stadium, i have to say that from a ballpark standpoint, it wasn't nearly as bad as i thought. from, the shiny, velvety turf to the multitude of midway-like activities around the stadium to the DJ spinning tunes between innings...it is genuinely a fun place to go. besides, it's air conditioned! fake baseball? maybe. awesome? definitely. the only major negatives were the very uncomfortable seats and of course, the fact that there were 4 yankee fans for every 1 devil ray fan might have also hurt the experience. poor d-rays.

you would think that given the seats are not exposed to elements they could come up with something more comfortable.
that's one (about the only) thing I miss about living in Tampa. Air-conditioned baseball!
i like the 'sea' of empty seats in your picture...reminds me of Kauffman
mike- it wasn't so much the seats as the proximity of them. the seat itself was fine, but there was no room in any direction. no arm rests. i mean, what is this communust china?
dustin- good to hear from you, man. the a/c was definitely nice on a 90+ day.
dale- to be fair, this pic was taken before the teams even took the field. to be unfair...not many more people showed even after they did.
