business as usual
in the wake of lame stories like the terrible tragedy at virginia tech on monday and violence in baghdad that claimed 186 lives, i'm glad that Yahoo!® has FINALLY gotten back to the things that SHOULD be in the "featured news" section on their home page.
yep, who cares about all the death and injustice in the world...when chris had a bad performance, guys? he had A BAD PERFORMANCE, people! how can this happen in THIS country? why has god forsaken us in this time when we NEED american idol?

Yeah for self-soothing tv.
Well spoken Cademan, well spoken.
I remember once upon a time when our nation used to mourn during tragedies as such. The 1986 Challenger disaster was the most stark one i can recall. None of us really cared what was on TV that night because we were so devastated by the explosion. And if we did turn the TV on there was usually coverage of the event in one form or another.
Reality TV has cured all that.
Oprah took a break from her grief to do some improv to help heal our hearts.
While I do abhor reality TV (well, I used to love Real World, but either I outgrew it, or it became porn. Or perhaps both) I think it paved the way for the writing renaissance of the current decade. Everything has a silver lining.
Interesting point. Very possible. I've turned my best TV interests toward the HBO series Deadwood and Big Love. If the reality garbage has spawned some of the brilliance of these shows in retaliation, then hallelujah.
